I didn’t start running until I was 24 but fell in love with trail running almost immediately. Running on trail offers me a good quiet moment each day where I can just relax, run and not think about life’s other worries. The first race I ever ran was a 50k. I enjoy running ultra-marathons (anything longer than a marathon 26.2 miles) but enjoy training more than racing. There’s nothing like a good 4 hour long run in the mountains followed by soaking your legs in an ice cold creek!
What I’m loving right now:
Garmin 220: I like to train paying attention to the elevation loss and gain I cover in a week. Elevation is a variable that would be hard to track without a GPS watch. It also helps me make sure than I’m covering an adequate amount of running up hill before a race.
Saucony Peregrine trail shoe: When I’m out on the trail I like to feel the ground beneath me. The Peregrine by Saucony offers a good amount of cushion while maintaining a 4mm platform that keeps my foot close to the ground.
Salted Caramel GU: This endurance nutrition flavor is as close to a Starbuck’s drink as you can get! Perfect amount of electrolytes to keep me balanced on a warm day.
